Withnail & I Filming Locations
Penrith has become something of a pilgrimage destination for die-hard Withnail fans - and you can see a series of photos of Penrith through the years in the History of Penrith. Stoney Stratford Market Square however, was where the most famous location shots were filmed.
There are plenty of interesting stories about the other filming locations. For example, the “Accident Black Spot” scene was shot in the London Borough of Finchley - Mrs Thatcher’s constituency. Hence the line “They’re throwing themselves into the road gladly."

Crow Crag (real name Sleddale Hall) was left derelict for years. See some photos on the BBC Cumbria website.
